Ayurá

(English pronunciation: Ah-U-raa)

Ayurá is a true Lab mix — food-motivated, playful, goofy and loyal. While she can be a bit shy at first, her confidence blooms quickly, especially with patience and treats. She loves toys and bones, often coming to the door to greet guests with a toy in mouth looking to play and her long tail wagging.

Ayurá would need a home with daily walks and plenty of playtime. She loves her harness and walk time, she picked up quickly with leash training but is still learning to love the car rides. She’s full of love, laughter, and potential — just waiting for her forever family. We think she’s a Labrador - Rhodesian Ridgeback Mix and at the time of writing this (28 Feb 2026) she weighs around 15 Kg and is 10 months old.

Metro Pups

Ayurá is part of a litter of five puppies who were rescued by our friend and fellow dog rescuer, Holly, after she discovered them abandoned in a box on the outskirts of the city. That same night, they arrived at my home, thin, covered in ticks, and unsure of the world. We spent hours gently cleaning them up, and in the weeks that followed, they transformed into healthy, happy, and full-of-life little adventurers.

We named them after Medellín Metro Stations, inspired by a recent trip to Colombia — a tribute to resilience and connection.

Today, these pups are thriving! They’re vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and have started learning the basics of leash walking, car rides, and house manners. Each has their own personality, but all are affectionate, social, and eager to please. They’ll do wonderfully in homes with other dogs, children, and likely cats, too.

They’re still young and learning, so they need adopters ready for the joys and challenges of raising a puppy — lots of patience, structure, and yes, an endless supply of kisses.

Ayurá es una verdadera mezcla de labrador — motivada por la comida, juguetona, divertida y leal. Aunque al principio puede ser un poco tímida, su confianza crece rápidamente, especialmente con paciencia y premios. Le encantan los juguetes y los huesos; a menudo llega a la puerta para recibir a los visitantes con un juguete en la boca, buscando jugar y moviendo su larga cola.

Ayurá necesitaría un hogar con paseos diarios y mucho tiempo de juego. Le encanta su arnés y salir a caminar; aprendió rápidamente a usar la correa, aunque todavía está aprendiendo a disfrutar los paseos en coche. Está llena de amor, alegría y potencial — solo está esperando a su familia para siempre. Creemos que es una mezcla de labrador con ridgeback rodesiano y, al momento de escribir esto (28 de febrero de 2026), pesa alrededor de 15 kg y tiene 10 meses de edad.

Ayurá forma parte de una camada de cinco cachorros que fueron rescatados por nuestra amiga y también rescatista, Holly, después de encontrarlos abandonados en una caja a las afueras de la ciudad. Esa misma noche llegaron a mi casa, delgados, cubiertos de garrapatas y sin entender el mundo. Pasamos horas limpiándolos con cuidado y, en las semanas siguientes, se transformaron en pequeños aventureros sanos, felices y llenos de vida.

Los nombramos en honor a estaciones del Metro de Medellín, inspirados por un viaje reciente a Colombia: un homenaje a la resiliencia y la conexión.

Hoy, ¡estos cachorros están prosperando! Están vacunados, esterilizados/castrados y han empezado a aprender lo básico de caminar con correa, viajar en coche y comportarse en casa. Cada uno tiene su propia personalidad, pero todos son cariñosos, sociables y deseosos de complacer. Se adaptarán maravillosamente a hogares con otros perros, niños y probablemente gatos también.

Aún son jóvenes y están aprendiendo, por lo que necesitan adoptantes preparados para las alegrías y los retos de criar un cachorro: mucha paciencia, estructura y, por supuesto, un suministro interminable de besos.
